The RBA says a media release is issued at 2.30 pm after each Monetary Policy Board meeting, with any change in the cash rate target taking effect the following day, and that before December 2007 media releases were issued only when the target was changed (the Cash Rate Target page); the notes to Statistical Table A2 say that from February 2008 the announcement is made on the day of the Board meeting, effective the following day, and that before then the announcement and effective dates were the same. The first observation is the decision of 14 December 1994, which set the target in force on 1 July 1996, where the site's deeming rate history begins; the cash rate target in force on any date from then on is the value of the last observation on or before that date. change is in percentage points as the RBA publishes it; the first observation's change refers to the target before it, which is not recorded here.
