About this figure

A funeral bond is not counted in the assets test where the amount invested is under this limit and the person does not also have prepaid funeral expenses. Services Australia says the value of up to 2 bonds can be left out on this basis, that a jointly owned bond has the same limit, and that the Department of Social Services reviews the limit on 1 July each year.
