About this figure
For each $1,000 of assets above the full pension limit, pension reduces by $3 a fortnight for a single person, or $1.50 a fortnight for each member of a couple. Services Australia states the taper on its Disability Support Pension assets test page; its Age Pension assets test page does not state it. One rate calculator sets both pensions (Social Security Act 1991, s 1064, Module G). The effective date comes from Schedule 3 of the Social Services Legislation Amendment (Fair and Sustainable Pensions) Act 2015.
